Gigbag!: History Part I: The Beginning Of A Journey.

The band was formed back in end of 2006. Early line up consists of Derek on the drums, Jino on the bass guitar and Karl playing the guitar and as the frontman. Gigbag started as a regular jamming band that often jams at Lab Rat Studio, a studio owned by Shahrul from Love Me Butch. Back in the old days, they played stuff that influence us the most which include Foo Fighters, Blink 182, Green Day, Incubus, Finch, The Used and a lot of other stuff. As usually, they got bored playing covers and we started to write some lyrics and end up with couple of songs. They tried it out when they got together and they all get excited about how things progress. They enjoy making our own music and started to think about playing battle of the bands and some gigs around Klang Valley. For you information, members of Gigbag are from island of Borneo, Jino is from Sabah and both Derek and Karl are from Sarawak. In 2007, Derek went back to Sarawak since he finished his study in UM leaving Karl and Jino with the band. Karl met Lawrald and decided to invite him to fill the position as a sessionist drummer and Mark to fill in the second guitar. Things went smooth and they started to write more songs. They recorded their first demo cd in Lab Rat in late 2006, which was recorded using some simple equipment, mainly the laptop and chatting microphone. Excited with the progress, they started to practice hard to give it a try to record a single. They made it and the first studio-recorded song is officially “Remember Tonight” which was available for preview at myspace. The single was recorded in September 2007.
